Wineglass Bay Kayak Tour
Is there a Wineglass Bay kayak tour? The guided Freycinet Paddle leaves Muirs Beach in Coles Bay and stays on the sheltered side. What it covers, prices, and the cruise.
There is no guided kayak tour into Wineglass Bay itself. The paddle sold under that search is Freycinet Adventures’ Freycinet Paddle: three hours in stable double sea kayaks from Muirs Beach in Coles Bay, along the sheltered western shore of the Freycinet Peninsula below The Hazards, with a tea and coffee stop on a beach. Wineglass Bay is on the other side of the peninsula, facing the Tasman Sea. The paddle is The Freycinet Paddle Kayak Tour, from US$109 a person (checked November 2026).
The calendar above is the Freycinet Paddle from Muirs Beach, with 75 reviews (checked November 2026).
The short answer
Book the paddle if you want to be on the water yourself, close to the granite, on calm water, in three hours rather than four and a half: it suits beginners and families with children over 7, and the guides teach you as you go. Book the cruise instead if Wineglass Bay itself is the point, because the only boat into the bay is the cruise; the kayaks stay in the protected waters of Coles Bay, on the western side of the peninsula. Both leave from Coles Bay, and the paddle runs a twilight session in the warmer months, so with a car you can do the cruise in the day and the paddle in the evening.
Where the paddle goes

The paddle starts at Muirs Beach in Coles Bay, opposite the Iluka Tavern on the Esplanade, where there is free parking and public toilets; the meeting point can move with the weather, so stay reachable in the hour before. After a safety briefing you paddle into Freycinet National Park along the shore below The Hazards, past granite boulders and white beaches, and stop on a secluded beach halfway for tea, coffee or hot chocolate and a biscuit; of the three hours, about two are spent paddling. Wineglass Bay is on the other side of the peninsula, about 6 km in a straight line from Muirs Beach across the granite of The Hazards, and the paddle does not go round to it.

What it costs, and what is included
On GetYourGuide the paddle is from US$109 a person (checked November 2026), and on Viator the same paddle is from US$111 (checked November 2026), with 4.8 from 1,020 reviews there. On its own site Freycinet Adventures prices it at A$155 an adult and A$125 a child aged 15 and under (November 2026); from 16 you pay the adult price. The price covers the guide, stable double sea kayaks and all the paddling gear, warm jackets, dry bags for phones and cameras, and the refreshment stop, and the Viator listing includes the national park fees. Transport to Coles Bay is up to you. If you paddle alone, you share a double kayak with another guest or a guide.
Who it suits, and the weather
The paddle is for beginners as well as paddlers: the kayaks are stable doubles, the guides coach you from the start, and the water of Coles Bay is protected. Children must be 7 or older and come with an adult. You may get a little wet, so wear clothes that can get damp, flip-flops or bare feet, a hat and sunglasses, and bring water. Morning and twilight tours run from September to April, and morning tours only from May to August. If the weather cancels a tour, you are offered another date or a full refund, and this GetYourGuide listing allows free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

Getting to Wineglass Bay itself
There are three ways onto Wineglass Bay itself. By water, the Wineglass Bay cruise from the jetty in Coles Bay goes round the southern end of the peninsula and into the bay: 4½ hours with lunch, from US$148 (checked November 2026). On foot, the Wineglass Bay Lookout is a 2.6 km return walk from the Wineglass Bay Walking Tracks Car Park, and the beach below it is 6 km return with about 1,000 stairs down from the saddle (Parks and Wildlife Service). By boat and foot together, the Freycinet Aqua Express (on Viator) crosses from the Coles Bay boat ramp to Hazards Beach in 30 minutes, and the Isthmus Track is then a 2 km walk to the bay. All the walks need a parks pass. The cruise or the walk compares them.
